TECHNOLOGY & TEACHING
Over the course of my career, I have used my technical skills in both faculty and administrative positions. I have been at the forefront in the use of technology in the classroom. This included teaching faculty to upgrade their courses by developing innovative approaches to f2f and online offerings. I incorporated an IDEA lab that paired students and faculty in the development of digital course material. My online PhD program in learning technologies requires excellent time management, communication, and project management skills. I carry these qualities into my teaching philosophy and consider them critical skills for success in any endeavor.
RESEARCH INTEREST
The focus of my research is the design of online learning. My background in graphic design and my Master’s degree in educational technologies have led me to concentrate on student-centered course design and navigation. My coursework in Learning Technologies at the University of North Texas has been beneficial in my new position as an instructional designer, allowing me to incorporate the learning theory and state of the art techniques in my interaction with university faculty. The research and assignments in the program have centered on course design and student success in online learning, which puts me in a valuable position in assisting the university with its goal to become a virtual university by 2020. In addition, I have been able to expand my job performance by contributing to faculty professional development with instructional videos that I created along with a variety of website elements, a teaching with technology blog, and self-paced courses. These enhancements to the role of the division resulted in a letter of commendation from my supervisor and a monetary bonus.
